Oh what a happy birthday!

My birthday started off with a bang on August 23th I met a friend at chikalicious for dessert and she came with a huge birthday box for me which when I got home I found to contain 6 pints from capogiro’s. 3 pineapple mint, 1 bing cherry, 1 blackberry and 1 lemon opal basil. It was so wonderful my refrigerator was once again going to look refreshed. But then I felt a little bad because just a couple of days before I contact Capogiro’s New York Wholesale Manager Lorenzo Merlo (who was fantastic and graciously replied to my e-mail in minutes) to ask that the refresh the supplies of gelato at the White Plains Wholefoods and the Scarsdale Balducci’s. Well I didn’t have to feel bad for too much longer because on August 24th another friend bought me 1 strawberry tarragon and 1 dulce de Leche from Wholefoods. Wow!!! All the different flavors that I can sample in my freezer. August 25th, birthday party day is here!!!!! O, J, and E drive up to NY for the festivities but due to some mix ups I never actually see them. Around 1am the birthday boy walks over to me at our party and whispers that O, J, and E have put 4 pints in C’s freezer for me as a Birthday Gift. WHOA!!! Add those to the pint of mint stracciatella and I have 13 pints. I’m gonna have the most awesome collection of Capogiro’s a NYer has ever had. August 26th the Birthday Boy (hmm maybe his nickname should be The Transporter) and C drove the pints to my house; 2 pineapple mint, 1 peach, 1 half uva/half black fig. They stayed a bit to sample the pineapple mint mixed with the lemon opal basil, it was wonderfully refreshing. Unfortunately they had some car trouble trying to get out of Riverdale and I know it won’t make up for it but I’m going to make an open invitation for them to come and have more Capogiro’s. Thank you all for the wonderful birthday gifts and I’ll be sure to blog about each one individually as I sample them.

  2. When you've emptied all the pints, you should take all the containers and make a hat out of them. Or a plastic dress--meow!

  3. We used to save our empty pint containers but never found a good use for them. Any other ideas besides a dress?

  4. A dress would look really um...interesting but I just give them to my grandmother and she's saving them for the winter when she makes soup and gives it to everyone in my fam to take home.
